Why Ampersand?
Because technology should leave people feeling more capable, not less.
Technology can help a business save time, create opportunities and bring ambitious ideas to life.
But the right solution never begins with the technology.
It begins with understanding the people behind the business, their ideas, their challenges and the way they want to work.
That is why every Ampersand project starts with a conversation.
We listen before we advise. We explain rather than overwhelm. And we create practical, thoughtful solutions shaped around what genuinely matters to the people using them.
Whether we are designing a website, introducing AI, simplifying everyday systems or supporting a specialist care provider, our aim remains the same:
To leave people more confident than when they arrived.
Because technology is simply the tool.
People are always the purpose.
Human first. Technology second.
BEHIND AMPERSAND
The person behind the purpose.
Ampersand was founded by Simon Taskis, bringing together years of experience in business, care, communication, digital design and practical problem-solving.
Long before Ampersand had a name, Simon’s work was guided by three principles: educate, empower and encourage. They shaped the way he supported people, families and organisations, and today they sit at the heart of every Ampersand project.
His approach does not begin with a platform, a product or the latest piece of technology. It begins by listening, understanding the person, the idea and the challenge before deciding what might genuinely help.
What I set out to build
I created Ampersand to be the kind of business I would want to work with: thoughtful, honest, curious and generous with knowledge.
A business where people can ask questions without feeling intimidated, explore ideas without pressure and use technology without being made to feel that they are being left behind.
Whether I am helping someone build a website, understand AI, simplify the way they work or bring a new idea to life, I want the experience to leave them feeling clearer, more capable and more confident about what comes next.
Ampersand is not about technology for technology’s sake.
It is about using creativity, conversation and practical tools to help people make meaningful progress.
Human first. Technology second. Always.

FROM PRINCIPLE TO PRACTICE
What this looks like in practice.
Educate, empower and encourage are more than words. They shape the way we listen, the recommendations we make and the solutions we create.
Every project begins with understanding what someone is trying to achieve, and then finding the clearest, most practical way to help them move forward.
Bring ideas to life
Websites, content and digital presence
A good website should do more than look professional. It should communicate who you are, build trust and give people the confidence to take the next step.
We bring together thoughtful design, clear language and practical technology to create digital experiences that feel authentic and purposeful.

Create more time
AI solutions and automation
AI should make work feel simpler, not introduce another layer of complexity.
We help businesses identify repetitive tasks, improve everyday processes and introduce practical automation that gives people more time for the work that requires judgement, creativity and human connection.

Reconnect opportunities
Database reactivation
Valuable relationships and opportunities can easily become buried inside an existing database.
We help businesses reconnect with dormant contacts through thoughtful, well-timed communication—creating new conversations without losing the personal approach that built those relationships in the first place.

Support better care
Specialist care-provider solutions
Technology in care must always support the people delivering and receiving it.
Drawing on first-hand experience of the social care sector, we help providers improve their digital presence, communication, systems and use of technology while keeping dignity, safety and human relationships at the centre.
